JOHN A. DOONAN

John was born and raised just outside New York City. He attended Tufts University and Suffolk Law School. He graduated Law School on the Dean’s List, participated in the Voluntary Defenders Clinical Program, and worked for Boston’s Mayor White.

John joined the Westchester County Attorney’s Office where he prosecuted abuse and neglect cases. There he gained the gratitude of hundreds of children, the respect of the bar as a talented litigator, and the friendship of Kevin Graves who would later become his law partner. John left the County Attorney’s Office to begin his own practice in Salem, Massachusetts.

The new practice grew quickly from one focused on residential real estate closings to a general business law firm with an emphasis on representing lenders, particularly large credit unions during the economic downturn of the late eighties.

John is a Member of the North Shore Association of Realtors, has served as the president of the Kiwanis Club, enjoys sailing, golf, and is a life-long fan of the New York Giants and the New York Yankees. John has completed three AIDS rides, including his most recent six-day ride across Alaska.

John has provided more than the firm’s foundation. He continues to present vision for future business development. John has navigated a course that has brought success to our clients, security and well-being to our employees, and growth to our business. On a daily basis, John supervises both the Maine and the Massachusetts foreclosures and conducts residential and commercial closings. He has litigated cases in State and Federal Courts throughout Massachusetts, Maine and New York.

KEVIN G. GRAVES

Kevin was born and raised in New York. He attended the University of Rhode Island and obtained his J.D. from Howard University in 1984. Kevin joined the Westchester County Attorney’s Office where he too prosecuted abuse and neglect cases and made the friendship
of his future partner John Doonan.

In the County Attorney’s Office, Kevin also served as a Real Estate and Business Contracts attorney and then was appointed by the County Executive as the Director of Real Estate for the County of Westchester. He honed his skills for transaction negotiations while overseeing the purchase, sale, lease, and management of County property. Kevin has served as a member of the Board for the American Red Cross, Westchester County, New York Chapter, and presently serves as a member of the Foundation of Westchester Clubmen, and on the Advisory Board to the Westchester County Executive. Additionally, Kevin has appeared on Cable television to discuss Bankruptcy Law issues.

Kevin is passionate about golf. He approaches the game in the same well-paced manner that he approaches the law. He enjoys traveling, good food, fine wine and the company of his family and friends.

Kevin joined John in 1994, as the managing partner for the newly formed entity of Doonan & Graves. With Kevin at the helm, the business grew and developed into a broad based real estate, estate, and business law practice. Kevin provided the balance and the experience of operating a successful legal business to an already growing practice. On a daily basis, Kevin manages the firm, conducts real estate closings, appears regularly in state and federal courts throughout New York, and represents a variety of clients throughout New York and Massachusetts.

Together, the three partners form a balanced unit. If John is navigating, and Kevin is at the helm, Reneau is trimming the sails. She helps motivate the employees in the day-to-day operation of the business, answers client questions and she continues to implement new ideas and technologies to save clients time and money.
